The 2nd World InterUniversities Championships EuroRoma 2016 were held from 17th to 20th November 2016 in Rome, Italy. More than 3,000 students from 59 universities of 27 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa competed in 11 sports (football, futsal, basketball, volleyball, handball, rugby, tennis, table tennis, swimming, cheerleading and badminton). Russia was represented by the team of the St. Petersburg Mining University, the Russian New University of Moscow and Lobachevsky University. UNN futsal team took part in this competition for the second time. Last year, it won the 4th place, and this year, our team was able to reach the finals and ranked second after  the University of Belgrade team from Serbia that won the first place in a penalty shootout.

For the first time, the program of the EuroRoma 2016 competition this year included badminton. Anastasia Malkova of the UNN Faculty of Physical Education and Sports achieved the greatest success among Lobachevsky University badminton players in the individual class taking the 2nd place in the mixed doubles category with Ilya Kamyshenkov of the UNN Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship (IEE) and dividing the 3rd place in singles with Polina Gordeeva of the same Institute. IEE student Maxim Lashkevich won a bronze medal. In the team event,  Lobachevsky University badminton players won the 2nd place.
